Mercury Marine - Bernico International

Born in a world of water sports, Nico was immediately afflicted with the virus of waterskiing and motorboats. Therefore, at the age of 11, he tried to build his first boat with the help of a Punch engine and to build parts of a drill. Unfortunately, this first model sank as soon as it hit the water. Typical for Nico's perseverance he started a new project, building a catamaran, this was his first success at the age of 14.
4 years later and after several projects he managed to secure 2 Evinrude engines from a sponsor. At that time, a twin rig set-up was far too expensive and very rare in the world of waterski racing. The germ of the idea was hatched in a small cafe in Antwerp to build one himself, because he couldn't afford to buy one. This project turned out to be such a success that the first 2 models were already sold before he could use them himself, this provided him with the platform for his two engine projects. The care and craftsmanship that came with this project ensured that he won his first race with it. This is how the Bernico brand was founded. Attention to detail and high building quality in combination with innovative techniques are always high on the agenda. This makes Bernico a respected international brand today.
Due to the waterski racing tyres of its founder, Bernico has a close relationship with the developments in this sport. They ensured the achievement of numerous Belgian, European and even world titles over the years in the classes of Formula 3, Formula 2 and Formula 1, Bernico is proud to see that his teams are doing well throughout the world.
With its primary base in Europe, the company has spread its wings all over the world. Including top teams in Europe, the US to the far corners of Australia and New Zealand. Where the team also has its partners for support and production.
While building boats is Bernico's main activity, they also have a great knowledge of engines and tuning of engines. This has led to some great results in pure speed races as the 24 hour Rouens Motonautiques and P1 powerboat race.
New models are designed today using computers with CAD-CAM software and integrated with modern and ergonomic design ideas. These ideas came from previous successes and were improved with the help of new materials and techniques. During the development of each of the new models, tests are carried out by testing the design against computer programs with fluid dynamics. This guarantees optimum performance for each of our models.
The eye for detail and quality of the production is one of the foundations of the company. Each boat is still handmade and assembled with the utmost care and attention.
Due to the good results achieved in 20 years of waterskiing and racing, there was a great demand for building pleasure craft with Bernico performance characteristics. That is why a production line has been offered, based on the known performance and extended with a series of luxurious options that allow the private customer to enjoy these boats in everyday life.
As a result, we also developed a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) with a hull that was developed from our racing experiences, a unique version of the boat in this sector. Both in terms of speed, stability and manoeuvrability.
